Global Food Loss Index (GFLI)

This indicator is proposed as an indicator for Sustainable Development Target 12.3 By 2030, halve per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer levels and reduce food losses along production and supply chains, including post-harvest losses

Value Range

Data

The indicator is primarily model-based. The calculation of the indicator relies on primary data collected from government agencies in the Agricultural Production Questionnaire or harvested from official publications and other sources.

FAO will compile the indicator on a regular basis as part of the Food Balance Sheets in FAOSTAT
